Abstract
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) has many remarkable advantages in structural features and converter circuit configuration. In order to further enhance its performance and application capability, some key techniques are presented in this thesis. It is known that the DC-link voltage boosting is the most effective means to improve the winding current response speed and the torque generating capability of a SRM. To achieve this goal, a front-end converter placed between battery and SRM drive is developed. Through properly designing the constituted circuit components and the control scheme, the converter can achieve fast voltage tracking and regulation response. It implies that the winding current response can be significantly accelerated by dynamic boosting the output voltage of developed converter. The field-weakening is another approach to improve the high speed driving performance of a SRM. However, the magnetic field control in SRM is inexplicit and difficult. In order to avoid the complex control, we will show that the field-weakening effect can be obtained equivalently through appropriately advancing the commutation instant. This fact is further confirmed by some experiment results under speed open and closed-loop conditions. And then, a heuristic algorithm is employed to find the optimal commutation advanced angle. In this thesis, a DSP-based SRM drive is first established and all of control schemes are realized in this digital control environment. Then the dynamic model of the SRM under nominal case is estimated according to the measured results. And a 2DOF speed controller is designed to yield the desired control performance.
