無線通訊網路除了是近年來的熱門研究外，市場上的應用也逐漸被推出。而目前較成熟的無線通訊技術當推GPRS與無線區域網路，然而這兩系統並不相容，使用者只能利用不同的設備選擇兩者其一的服務。因此，提供兩系統的漫游整合方案無疑是業者與使用者所熱切期望的。
