Abstract
A new algorithm for very low bit-rate image sequences coding with low bit-rate and high picture quality is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses a variable size block method to estimate motion vectors accurately and reduce the number of motion vectors. Unlike conventional algorithms, the proposed one applies a multi-vectors algorithm to estimate a block motion by more than one motion vector and uses a model based method to trace the object's contours to reduce visual artifacts. By testing several image sequences, such as ”Miss American” and ”Claire”, the proposed algorithm shows very good results.
