Abstract

串流服務 無線通訊 隨意網路 行動通訊 Streaming Service Wireless Ad Hoc MANET multi-channel 802.11 MAC
Compared with the infrastructure which contains one or more APs (access points), the mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a network composed solely of mobile stations. In MANET, a pair of hosts within mutual communication coverage can directly communicate with each other via the wireless medium (WM). To avoid co-channel interference, adjacent neighbors of each host of the pair in communication will not be allowed to access to the medium until the communication is finished. In other words, different pairs of hosts can access to one same channel simultaneously if their communication coverage is not overlapped. Hosts that simultaneously carrying information to be transferred with communication coverage overlapped to each other should contend for the medium. In system models based on single-channel MAC protocols, the performance of the entire network gets diminished as a result of the increasing number of mobile hosts. Throughput is limited especially when there is heavy traffic for one host to deliver to another. In order to improve the system performance and to raise the total throughput of the entire system, we propose a new multi-channel assignment ad hoc network protocol based on IEEE 802.11 [1] named the Dedicated Channel for Streaming Services (DCSS).
