Abstract
Infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) multi-hop data forwarding is a common operation required by a wade variety of vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) applications. The current approaches of I2V routing protocol use vehicle trajectory information to predict destination vehicle’s future position. However, the performance of trajectory-based routing protocol remains unsolved. In this work, we develop a novel trajectory-based I2V routing protocol framework in VANETs, aiming to develop a reliable I2V platform for future protocol designers and to evaluate the performance of all existing trajectory-based I2V routing protocols. In this work, we divide I2V routing into two parts: central algorithm part and distributed strategy part. From this aspect, future protocol designer will be able to integrate their protocols in our framework easily. We also give the user guide and general simulation procedures for users who want to use our framework. Simulation result shows the delivery ratio of all trajectory-based routing protocols are over 80% under various scenarios, which indicates trajectory-based approach is the solution for I2V routing protocols in VANETs.
