Abstract
Four-bar crank slider mechanism is broadly used in the design of mechanical presses. General assumptions such as crank having a constant input angular velocity or neglecting the effect of workpiece are often made for simplicity in the analysis and synthesis. By applying Quinn's theorem and introducing general press machine considerations, such as the effect of workpiece and constant energy input, this paper proposes a concise model of determining the dynamic characteristics of four-bar crank slider mechanism which is used in mechanical pressing. The following items are accomplished in this paper: the variation of crank angular velocity with respect to the conventional assumption, the effect of different types energy input ( ) and the comparison between the defined dynamic pressing force and corresponding static pressing force. Also, the designing of flywheels is conducted with different modes.
