Abstract
We discuss the calculation of the prompt atmospheric neutrino flux, which is produced by the charmed particles. By reexamining one of the charm production model—perturbative QCD, we obtain an updated result on the charm production K-factor based upon CTEQ6 parton distribution function. The new K-factor leads to an updated result on the prompt atmospheric neutrino flux based upon next-to-leading order perturbative QCD. The effect of parton distribution function on the above flux is discussed in detail.
