Abstract
In developing countries many elementary schools have Internet connections and networked computers but no standardized information and communication systems in place. Googleprovides a cloud based platform, Google Apps Education Edition, which could meet these specific needs of educational institutions. Although these services are offered free of charge the adoption rate of such systems by educational institutions remains low. Can these systems meet the need of educational institutions? This study aims to answer this question. Specifically, it studies one educational institution that implemented such a platform and evaluated users’ acceptance of the system. The Extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM2) was utilized to investigate factors leading users to accept or reject specific functions of the platform. It also sheds light as to “why” these factors were import to users and “how” they influenced users accepting or rejecting of certain functions of the system.
