One can not have a successful social life without friends. While keeping in touch with old friends is essential, making new friends will certainly enrich one's social life. In the past few years, friend-making apps or dating apps have significantly changed the behaviors of meeting new people and making new friends. However, most of them mainly leverage on geospatial networking without much information from the existing social network of the app users. Friends lead to friends, one of the most natural way to make new friends is connecting with friends of existing friends. In this paper, we conducted a pilot survey on how people practice this “referring” behavior and further implement an application to validate the results.
