Abstract
Taiwan has a long history of economic trade with Thailand, as a one of the major source of foreign investment, Taiwan manufacture companies takes a notable part in Thailand’s industrial activities. The close economic linkage between the two countries can be found by the large numbers of Taiwanese companies in Thailand covering in different field industries. Followed by the rise of East Asian economy, Thailand as a newly industrialized country has become one of the fastest growing economies. However, compare to the heyday three decades ago, there have been a significant decrease in business investment between Taiwan and Thailand. Due to various factors in economic growth and political issues, many Taiwanese entrepreneurs have left Thailand looking for new investment havens. The special longstanding relation between the two countries are at shaking ground, Taiwanese government acknowledge the matter and is doing its part in strengthening the cooperation with Thailand and all other countries in ASEAN. In this thesis we will explore the business relationship between Taiwan and Thailand, and the challenges Taiwanese investors are facing through Thailand’s economic transition.
