Abstract
Wireless sensor network is getting more and more popular in our life. This paper addresses the maximal lifetime sampling rate assignment for adaptive wireless sensor network. A large number of sensors are1 deployed to periodically monitor the environment and transmit sensing data to base station through multi-hop routing path. When anomaly event (e.g. tsunami in underwater sensor application) occurs, base station allocates sampling rate for each sensor to gather a lot number of data and to depict the variance of environment. This is the first work that guarantees specific quality and fairness in rate allocation while maximizing the system lifetime. We proposed a novel distributed algorithm to obtain the maximal critical energy in general network topology. We prove that the algorithm is optimal in multi-hop tree network and also get the near-optimal solution in multi-hop graph network.
