Abstract
Abstract Intracavity doubled diode-pumped solid-state lasers can be consi-dered as the scanning light source or backlight in laser displays which have been an attractive alternative of other popular flat panel displays, such as liquid crystal display and organic light emitting diode. However, the intrinsic “green problem” which makes the laser power fluctuate is observed. The phenomenon can be prevented when there is only one longitudinal mode in the laser cavity. In order to accomplish the purpose, we used a Volumetric Bragg grating (VBG) with high spectral selectivity to be a laser cavity mirror, and compared with HR@1064 nm mirror. In the experiment, we observed that the green laser’s power of VBG’s cavity would be smaller than the power of HR@1064 nm mirror’s cavity, and we only observed single mode in the VBG’s cavity. We got the green laser’s power for the single frequency is near 0.60 mW and observed that the green problem would be reduced. We also intended to enhance the second-harmonic conversion effi-ciency. We fabricated a piece of periodically poled lithium niobate doping MgO (PPMgLN), which has a large effective nonlinear coeffi-cient. We measured the optical parameters of our PPMgLN and tried to improve the quality of our PPMgLN. We expect to get the high power and low noise single frequency green laser by VBG and PPMgLN in the future.
