Abstract
In order to maintain competitiveness, companies tend to invest most major resources in their core functions and simply keep the other supporting functions with acceptable efficiency via relatively low cost. As the RFID technology gets matured and the RFID tag price goes down, more and more RFID applications have sprung up. However, the RFID technologoies are mostly applied to the core functions related to generating revenues and only few of them are employed in enterprise office processes. Therefore, this research emphasizes on studying the applicability of the RFID technology on enterprise office processes and developing RFID application model for distinct processes. The goal of this research is to provide enterprises the guidelines to evaluate and implement the RFID applications in enterprise office processes. To accomplish this goal, the issues conducted in this research can be divided into three steps. First, the current operation models of distinct enterprise office processes are examined and the issues of the office processes are analyzed to explore the possible applications of the RFID technology. Second, appropriate RFID application models are developed for each office process. Finally, a real-world case for RFID application on parking lot management is provided to examine the applicability of the RFID technology in office processes. As a whole, this research provides comprehensive RFID application models for enterprise office processes. Based on the proposed model, enterprises can efficiently and effectively apply the RFID technology in different applications.
