Abstract
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a communication technique which transmits or receives data by radio frequency. Its development period has been over half century since the World War 2. A rising trend of RFID is forming globally. Owing to its data portable and convenient features, RFID will bring innovative applications to the business market. Although people hold positive attitude to RFID’s future, in the opinion of DOI (Diffusion of innovation), its adoption process seems very slow. RFID is an interorganizational system. The relative advantage won’t reveal until it achieves mass adoption in the whole industry, either do the intent of adopting RFID. The thesis focuses on small-medium enterprises, trying to find out the factors and the relations that influence the intent of SME to adopting RFID by empirical test. The difference between economic scales would affect the business strategies and goals, and the abilities to solve problems and remove obstacles depend on resources accessibility. According to the literature reviews on IS adoption and the characteristics of RFID, the research will discuss the influence factors from four different constructs: Technical, Managerial, Organizational and Social. The SMEs are foundations of national development. Understanding the major obstacles and influence factors will help improving RFID adoption circumstance. The practical contribution is raising the considerations on privacy and legislation. The results could provide advices for large enterprises to assist in expediting the RFID adoption process of their small partners, and expanding RFID services and application scope in the future.
