Abstract
Latency is a important factor when evaluating the performace of a network system,especially for those sending small messages. Virtual Interface Architecture (VIA) is a new industrial standard for System Area Network (SAN). It is often used in cluser systems to provide better performance. Since distributed systems often need to exchange information with each other across the network, a high-speed network infrastructure is prefered. VIA can meet this need. To know the performace of VIA, we need to do some simulation test. This is the objective of this thesis. With some results of simulation, we can …nd the bottleneck of VIA, thus provide us some possible ways to improve the performance of VIA.
