Abstract
The worldwide 3C industry (Computer, Communication and Consumer) is rising and flourishing in recent years, which is a driving force for the development of semiconductor and TFT-LCD industry, Photonics Industry is presently one of “Two Stars with Two trillion revenue” industry that Taiwan government is driving, and TFT-LCD manufacturing possess the most production value in this industry. Now a-Si TFT LCD is the mainstream technology of TFT LCD, especially the Japanese firms monopolized the liquid crystal display industry over the past three decades. Since Korean and Taiwanese have entered this industry, market share and competitive situations are different.This article discusses a new enterprise – Toppoly Optoelectronics Corporation and its entrepreneurial process, from the forming of investor, raising of funds, acquiring of technology source, hunting of talents to mass production. A understanding story is revealed that how to grasp the entrepreneurial opportunity raise funds and hunt talents through the network of relationship. It also analyzes competitiveness of a new entrepreneurial industry - LTPS TFT LCD. Theoretically, two points of views are integrated, one is entrepreneur/entrepreneurship and the other is national innovation system, from the new entrepreneurial development process to reflect worldwide trend of TFT LCD industry and found out the environmental advantages to Toppoly through tracing trajectories of Taiwan TFT LCD industry.
