Abstract
This paper proposes a new reservation-based multicast scheduling algorithmfor single-hop WDM networks. The reservation-based multicast protocol proposed in makes the reservations for each control framestarting from the time beyond which all transmitters are free. However, between the current time and the timewhen all transmitters are free, there couldbe a number of free data slots on some data channels which can be used toschedule data packets. In this paper, we propose a new reservation-based multicast schedulingalgorithm which tries to make use of every data slots on all data channelssuch that the performance of the system can be improved.Extensive simulations are performedto studied the performance of the proposed multicast scheduling algorithm. Oursimulation results show that the proposed algorithm produces significantlylower mean packet delay than an existing multicast scheduling algorithm.
