Abstract
Recently, the releasing rate and amount of all sorts of publications/book issues have been significantly increased due to the drastic development of domain knowledge. Since readers have to face more and more publications/book issues, to efficiently acquire the useful materials from a large quantity of publications/book issues has become a critical issue. In addition, the book retailers expect to improve the efficiency for readers to select and purchase books at the stores and seek to obtain good business performance. Thus, based on book-related attributes (e.g., the basic descriptions and sales information), this research develops an algorithm and a recommendation system to explore the correlation of publications in order to provide readers useful recommendation for purchasing books. Furthermore, concerning the automatic identification capability of RFID, this research integrates the RFID technique in the proposed recommendation system to improve the performance of book searching and recommendation. In addition to the proposed algorithm and recommendation system, a demonstration scenario is also provided to analyze the feasibility and performance of the proposed approach. It is the goal of this research to develop an applicable model to enhance the sales of book retailers.
