Abstract
A zero power consumption visual remote curvature sensor by using multi-layer Fabry-Pérot interferometer and ink-jet printing process was proposed and realized in this research. Owing to the pure mechanical distortion of the multi-layer structure by external force, it deforms and generates remote visual interference colors in specific areas. By using image analysis software to calculate the area of interference colors, the curvature of the monitoring object could be obtained. Theoretical calculation, modeling, simulation, experiment, and analysis were done for this research. The proposed curvature sensor supports 0.076(mm-1) ~ 0.117(mm-1) curvature and is reusable and reliable for more than 1000 operations.
