Abstract
In general, the cost of the notebook components is over 70% of the finished product. Therefore, if a company wants to increase its competitiveness, it should pay more attention to its components management. This research proposes a methodology for the reengineering of the purchase and vendor management system by considering the overall business competitiveness. First, the gap analysis method is used to check the difference between the present business status and the key success factors (KSF) of the notebook industry, and set up the strategies of purchase and vendor management. Then the Balance Scorecard is used to deploy the strategic goals into lower-level goals, and to establish the relationship between them. Finally, the ARIS analysis method is applied to perform process reengineering. The proposed methodology can dynamically identify the operations of the purchase and vendor management, which need to be improved from the view point of business competitiveness.
