Abstract
This work deals with radon measurement in water samples taken from northern Taiwan. The samples include those taken from hot springs, wells, and deep wells for geothermal exploitation. Liquid scintillation counter was used to measure both □ and □ activities in the water samples. A review of radon measurement techniques is given. An improved measurement method called simple and quick method using toluene as solvent and butyl - PBD as aolute was used as the liquid scintillator, and 10 ml water sample was needed for each counting. Detailed description of counter calibration is given. The analysis of counting data was performed with the aid of a computer program. No significant radon activity has even been detected in this survey.
