Abstract
Due to the communication network gets more universal every day, the duration from order to deliver is very important. How to ship the orders to customer fast and correctly is the challenge to company’s distribution system. A perfect distribution system can not only increase a company’s competitiveness, but also decrease the cost. Since the distribution centers are getting more and more specialized, so the multi-depot heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem is very important. However, the above problem is a NP-Hard problem. In terms of saving complexity this research is based on Genetic Approach to develop a heuristic approach to find the near optimal solution. The heuristic algorithm concludes three parts. The first part is to find an initial solution, the second part is the GA’s operations, and the last part is to improve the solution found from the second part. From the computational experiments,we conclude that the solution is acceptable and the heterogeneous fleet VRP can decrease cost significantly.
