Abstract
Business culture is the basic principle, confidence and conviction of member belief, which is often embedded in business actions and operations. The implementation of business strategy depends on the support of the employee and their commitment in carrying out the actions. In other words, business culture is an important factor to lead business strategy to success. The objective of the study is to discuss the impact of business culture and the strategy on the performance. The relativity between business culture and business strategy are also explored.A research model is proposed based on the various theories of business culture (Wallach J.E. 1983), business strategy (Michael Porter 1985 and A. Aker 1999), and balanced scorecard (Kaplan & Norton 1996). This model is then empirically tested on a major Microelectronics Corp. in Taiwan. 200 questionnaires were sent out and 173 valid questionnaires were returned (86.5% valid response rate). The results of data analysis are summarized as following: Correlation analysis found that enterprise culture positively correlated with performance. Mostly, supporting culture is positively correlated with performance. Hierarchical regression analysis explored that the supporting culture predicted performance of finance, customer, process and learning. Meanwhile innovating culture just predicted financial performance. The findings of this study suggest that company should emphasize on selecting proper strategy to match the business culture. Well alignment always guarantees good business performance.
