Abstract
The evaluations and applications of using digital human model on the early stage of product design have played an important role. How to simulate a realistic human motion and automate the processes by simple steps are always the key issue in this topic. This study focused on the generations of operational motions by digital human model. The results of operational simulation can be useful for locomotion analysis, time analysis, and posture analysis. The study builds a new digital human model on 3ds max software, using motion capture system (Qualisys) as one of motion data sources. The use of digital human model can visualize and present the realistic motion completely. Also, the users can modify and reuse the original motion data to fit new operational changes by motion editing tools. The methodology can enhance the efficiency of motion data use and improve the presentation of detailed motion simulation. In addition, the study used MTM as the basis for semantic motion definition. Users can input MTM motion sequences and CAD objects to produce the operational simulation quickly and intuitively. The method of using MTM as motion command can produce the upper limbs motion, lower limbs movement, and posture modification. The module was built for new work station without physical mockups and real subject information.Further, a user interface was constructed by maxscript, and a digital human model that can receive motion capture data or be controlled by MTM semantic commands. Users can spend less effort to generate operational simulation in an independent system. They also can modify and reuse an original motion data for a similar task. The main results of operational simulation can be extended to locomotion analysis, time analysis, and ergonomic evaluation.
