Abstract
Tumor Treating Fields (TTF), a technology using alternate current electric fields to treat tumor, was first reported by Y. Palti in 2004. Despite this new technology shows great promising and is being used in the late stage of clinical trials, some of its important mechanisms have not been clearly investigated such as the frequency of the Tumor Treating Field effect. In this research studies, the microsystem chip was designed for two functions including cell sorting and the optimal Tumor Treating Field (TTF) frequency to each cancer cell. The first function on our microsystem chip is the cell sorting by using negative dielectrophoresis to sort the cells. The individual cell was then guided into the PDMS microchannel. The second part is the special shape of PDMS microstructure. This microstructure has two features, the cell trapping and the direction restriction of the cell division. After cell culture, we built the electric field with different frequency to observe the TTF effect on the cancer cells. This microfluidic platform could be applied to the cell biology and bio-mechanical studies on cells under TTF treatments.
