Abstract
Taiwan’s semiconductor industry has become the fourth largest production area behind USA, Japan, Korea. In the past, the strength of Taiwan was built on manufacturing capability. After the research of sub-micron and deep sub-micron programs promoted by the government and the large research and development investments from companies such as TSMC and UMC, the advanced technology of Taiwanese semiconductor is now at world class level. The research attempts to build a complete management framework of technology research processes using the process management perspectives and applying the technologies of concurrent engineering, and information technology. Using intensive team discussions with relevant company personnel, the research developed (1) the deployment model, (2) the reviewing model, (3) the progress monitoring model, (4) and the e-documents Management System. These documented models can be used in research and development project management and are expected to shorten research and development cycle time and accumulate experiences.
