Abstract
For decades, the semiconductor industry has followed Moore’s Law, by continuously advancing pioneering production techniques; and simultaneously providing a certain level of capital expenditures to sustain competitive strength. Acquiring key technologies and reaching a high yield rate rapidly are essential for companies in establishing a solid foundation in the industry. Acquiring a strategic position through rapid implementation and achieving the optimal yield rate creates the most profits for stakeholders, which can present opportunities for company growth and sustainability. Being a part of the semiconductor industry as well as the supply chain, the semiconductor equipment suppliers must provide solutions to respond to the advanced process technology of companies. In addition, the suppliers must have a finger on the pulse of the industry, as well as select appropriate strategies for companies in different stages of growth and according to their core and dynamic capabilities. This study hopes that through the collection of the strategy selections and trends of companies in different time periods and analysis of the competitive strength and strategy development of supplier cases in the semiconductor industry, to discuss how companies improve their competitive strength in this rapidly alternating and highly competitive environment. In terms of enterprise growth and developing strategy development, this study aims to use the core capabilities accumulated in the semiconductor industry to provide plans and suggestions for future strategies.
