Abstract
Taiwan is in the leading position in the foundry business and also the second position in the IC design business with complete infrastructure of semiconductor industry. In order to keep the competitive advantage of Taiwanese semiconductor industry, aggressive development of the SoC industry is promoted by Taiwan government . More over, following relevant policy, Taiwan government did actuate and subsidize the development of SoC to keep Taiwan in the world’s leading position in semiconductor industry. IC design plays a key role in the SoC semiconductor industry. The research studies strategy development of SoC industry from IC design house perspective and takes a case study. The first part of this research is to study the relevant literatures of the field as the theoretical basis of the thesis. The second part is to collect and analyze the information about semiconductor industry, future trend of SoC industry, and its major related application. In order to get practical strategies, visiting experts and case company are must. After that, the research goes through Strategic Matrix Analysis to find out the strategy of case company. The research also reveals KSF (Key Successful Factor) of IC design house in the SoC industry in Taiwan. Through Strategic Matrix analysis the thesis finds that case company is not available two items of 51 strategic factors in the developing SoC. The first is segmentation & choice of target market, and the second is smoothly economic scale. The research gives some suggestion to case company in order to improve the competitiveness. The result is in accordance with the expert & the case company interviews held during the course of this research.
