Abstract
The business cases and output value of the construction industry in Taiwan shrunk on the impact of economic downturn and the migration of industry, and the GDP of construction industry only account for 2.17% of GDP in 2007, according to the Bureau of Budget, Accounting and Statistics. It shows the competition among construction industry still be fierce, and the number of construction companies amounted to 13,706 in 2006, according to the Construction and Planning Agency under Ministry of the Interior. Plus the soar of price of material and wage, causing the increase of operation cost of construction companies. Moreover, the problem of lacking of workers, also severely affected the engineering schedule arranged by construction companies. A variety of situations indicate that construction companies are difficult in running business, and profit margin are getting lower. The role of construction companies is gradually shifting to focus on finance and management, instead of constructing by themselves previously. How to stabilize the relationship between up stream and down stream, and how to increase profit are the issues worthy of discussing.This study utilizes SWOT analysis to discuss the business dilemma faced by the company of this case, and proposes the advices of business strategies, including market, quality, finance, production and human capital strategies, in order to be a reference for construction companies.
