Abstract
The shoe manufacturing industry is a labor intensive industry in Taiwan. Though the majority of this industry has already been moved to Mainland China or Southeast Asia, where can provide cheap and sufficient labor now, It was once one of key exporting industries of Taiwan, This industry has made Taiwan become the largest supply country for export of shoes in the world. This brilliant record was created by shoes companies’ hard working and shoes trading companies’ efforts.In former days, shoes makers in Taiwan were not well-educated. The scale of shoe manufacturing industry is rather small. Few recruiters can talk with buyers in English, not even mentioning to have the knowledge and ability of international trading or to get the order on the international market. Those trading specialists who can speak English and have solid experiences of trading become the brokers of this industry. Then this relationship last out till now.The relationships between shoe companies and trading companies are strong enough for further future, especially when shoe companies move to other territory for developing. Trading company will follow the movement without any questions. On the contrary, the relationships become complicated and closer than ever before capacity expansion.This research is under the main study of the interdependent relationships between Taiwan shoe companies and trading companies. Follow the resource dependence theory to discuss: what’s the key role of Taiwan shoe companies and trading companies, mutual dependency, and future development. The main infrastructure is included 4 major parts: 1) roles and role change of trading companies; 2) the change of mutual dependence between shoe companies and trading companies; 3) the fact of shoe companies choosing trading companies or trading companies choosing shoe companies; and 4) the future development of the small and medium shoe companies and the trading companies.
