Abstract
In this study, we modified the structure of gas barrier film with polymer blended liquid layer, enhancing the gas barrier properties and preventing the sagging. The water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) reached the detection limit of Mocon, under 10-2 g/m2-day. Smaller thickness and larger kinematic viscosity were found to be the effective means to retard the sagging. In addition to determine the minimum thickness under the relatively suitable production situation, a new small-scale production machine was designed and built and it could produce a stable sample with the thickness variation less than 10 %. Moreover, the samples were tested under high temperature and humidity conditions for aging test, and the life of the test samples was estimated from 88 to 121 days. The gas barrier film developed here can be applied to flexible electronics package.
