Abstract
The p53 tumor suppressor is a nuclear protein that functions as a sequence specific transcription activator. p53 has been implicated in regulating cell growth, differentiation and apoptosis. We have previously established a temperature sensitive p53 stable transfectant of the p53-null IW32 cells. Expression of wild type p53 in these cells results in differentiation along the erythroid lineage, and cells are arrested in G1 phase of the cell cycle.
