Abstract
Abstract This study aims to investigate the current situation of Hakka language teaching in Po-Ai elementary school in Hsin-chu County and to analyze the correlation between students’ Hakka language performance and factors that affect students’ Hakka speaking ability.The research instruments of this study are the questionnaires drafted and used in the plan of “A Study of the Indigenous Language Teaching Situation in Elementary and Junior High Schools in Taiwan”. The four questionnaires are “Questionnaire for Students”, “Questionnaire for Parents”, “Questionnaire for Teachers”, and “Questionnaire for School Administrators”. The obtained questionnaire data is analyzed by SPSS (version 19) with statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOAVA, and Pearson correlation.
