Abstract
In this paper a new nonblocking self-routing copy network architecture is proposed. The proposed copy network architecture is named TPCN which stands for Tandem P2i Copy Network. TPCN involves only simple operations such as table lookup and self-routing so that it can work very fast. Further more, TPCN has a regular structure and low complexity (O(N log2N)) so that it is suitable for VLSI implementation. The performance of TPCN is analyzed under uniform traffic. TPCN can be expanded into a trapezoidal shape to improve system throughput. At the end of this paper, we also introduce a multicast ATM switch constructed by proposed copy network and the Knockout-banyan network [1].
