Abstract
A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is one consisting of a set of mobile hosts capable of communicating with each other without the assistance of base stations. Hosts may need to communicate in a multi-hop manner. Most works on MANET assume using a uni-path for routing. This work is concerned with using a multi-path, which can be a general graph with a source and a sink, for routing. A multi-path may be more reliable and can provide higher end-to-end bandwidth. We focus on the problem of how to reserve a required bandwidth on a multi-path under a CDMA-over-TDMA channel model. Due to radios' mutual interference nature, this problem turns out to be highly challenging. In this work, we propose two bandwidth allocation heuristics. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of these schemes.
