Abstract

無線非同步傳輸模式媒介擷取控制的排序機制 WATMScheduling algorithm
The next-generation personal communication networks (PCN) will be required to carry data traffic as well as multimedia traffic. Packet switching, such as wireless ATM, is viewed as a general solution. The wireless medium is much more error prone and the available bandwidth is scarce. This can result in substantial delays and packet loss. Therefore, a well designed architecture for a wireless packet switched network is essential and necessary. In a wireless packet switched integrated service network, it is important to guarantee the quality of services that the users demand. This guarantee makes it necessary to police the traffic at the edge of the network. On the other hand, the bandwidth of the radio links in a wireless packet switched network is an expensive resource. It is a tremendous waste if the scheduler assigns a particular time slot to a mobile and the mobile does not have a packet to transmit in that time slot. It is equally wasteful if the mobile has a packet to transmit, but the packet is dropped, marked or delayed by the traffic regulator/policer in the base station. This wasteful situation can happen if the slot assignment control (or scheduling control) and the policing control are done independently. To avoid such inefficiency, we propose to a joint control of the slot assignment to the mobiles and the policing of the traffic. We formulate an integer nonlinear programming to solve for the optimal joint control problem. We will use dynamic programming method to solve this integer programming problem. We also use simulation to study several suboptimal heuristic joint control methods and compare them with the optimal control. Finally, we carry out a queueing analysis of the wireless multiple access system to capture the effect of joint control of slot assignment and traffic regulation.
