Abstract
Slip is a phenomenon in Gear pumps, and it consumes power of a gear pump. Clearances are the major factor of slip. But reducing the dimensions of clearances will increase the viscous shear. This thesis focus on the relationship of power consumption and the clearances in a spur gear pump. This thesis involved a finite-difference method to analyse the end face of gear. The object of this thesis is to find the optimum clearances of a spur gear pump to minimize the power consumptions.
