Abstract
Accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), the method, uses elevated temperature (100℃) and pressure (2000 psi) to achieve analyte recoveries equivalent to those from Soxhlet extraction, using less solvent (5 mL) and taking significantly less time (30 min), than the Soxhlet procedure. High performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC), the analytic system, often uses to be a qualitative and quantitative tool for thermal unstable compounds.This study aims at 16 important polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). We use Micro-Orifice Uniform Deposit Impactor (MOUDI) to gather particulate matter aiming at Taichung Thermal Power Plant and China Steel Chemical Corporation (CSCC). The particle size range is from 0.18 to 18 μm. The sample pretreatment used homemade ASE extracted system, and used methanol : hexane (v : v = 1 : 1) as extracted solvent. PAHs were analyzed by HPLC/UV-VIS and Fluorescence detector.Use the whole analytic system to analyze the urban dust standard reference material (SRM-1649a), the recovery is 72.4%-114.6%. Method detection limit for UV-VIS detector is 13.4-96.2 μg/L, and for fluorescence detector is 0.115-0.715 μg/L。According to the result, there is a tendency of particle bound PAHs to adsorb the smaller particulate matter. The index pollutant of thermal power plant is DBA, traffic is FL, Pyr, and BghiP, and the index pollutant of CSCC is BaP.
