Abstract

孫梓評 紫石作坊 情感展演 視覺經驗 Sun Tsu-Ping literary agent emotional performance visual experience

The research subject of the study is Sun, Tsu-Ping, one of the most representative poets in the 1970s. The study looks into his upbringing, literary development, and the emotional expression and visual experience in his poetry, with the aim to fill in the missing link in the current studies of poets born in the 1970s. With Purple Rock’s training and incubation initiatives, Sun’s work was recognized through joint publication in both serious and popular literature at a young age. His symbolic capital is thus higher than those of his peers. Based on the argument that Sun uses poems to preserve emotions and memories, the researcher looks into the two major emotional themes in his poems: growth and love, observing the change of values caused by the disappointment he felt from childhood to adulthood. In addition to the general characteristics found in Sun’s poetry: clean and restrained, the researcher identifies the struggle with love, the image of desire which was rarely mentioned in the past, and also lust for the same sex expressed indistinctly in his poems. In his travel and video poems, the expression of their visual experience is analyzed. The researcher observes that Sun uses the same writing strategies when describing landscapes. The poetry language he uses is different from his previous writing. The visual experience also reveals that Sun’s inner consciousness has always been closely connected to the core of his poetry writing.
