Abstract I-Lan is the region that can be representative of Changchou dialect in Taiwan. Expect for the Group Hui, the north area of Lan-Yang River keeps the original form of the Group Kung and Group Chiang. Such as the words「suinn1」,「puinn7」in the Group Hui, 「ting1」,「hing5」in the Group Kung and 「hing1/hiang1」,「sing3/siang3」in the Group Chiang. As time goes by, we will find out not only the sound /uinn/ is to be substituted for the soung /ng/, but the sounds /ing/ and /iang/ are almost replaced with the sound /iong/. The unique sounds in this area are disappearing. With the field survey of this region, it is helpful for us to realize the uniqueness of this dialect and the provement of phonetic changing. There are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter is introduction, we will talk about the methodology of survey. In chapter 2, the influencing factors that cause the phonetic changing are mentioned, such as social factors, language contact, diglossia and the theory of lexical diffusion. The focus of chapter 3 is the result of investigation in I-Lan. The main idea of chapter 4 is discussing the relationship between the above influencing factors and the survey of I-Lan, it will try to find out the reasons that cause this dialect to change. The last chapter is the conclusion, further study and some suggestion are included.
