Abstract
This thesis applies Becker’s Theory of efficient marriage with some changes in the assumption to analyze the age-gap between marriage couples based on the data drawn from “Women’s Marriage, Fertility and Employment.” First, this study discuss each factor’s influence generally according to OLS estimation results, and then describe the details of distribution with quantile regression. Finally this study uses probit model to captures every cause’s effective probability in order to find out the codes hidden deeply in age-gap between spouses and to understand whether personal characteristics such as education and income act as a trade-off factor with age-gap. This study may contribute to the literature by providing a better interpretation to rules of assortative mating for people in the marriage market.
