Abstract
Recently, 3D scanning technology plays more and more important role in ergonomics, medicine and computer animation. It can generate precise and complete 3D human body surface data for analysis or reconstructing realistic human model, but a regular 3D whole body scanning usually contains about one million data point, researchers are nearly impossible to gather useful information without proper software aided.We propose a reliable, fast and automatic landmarks detection and identification system on laser digitized human model based on image processing and computer vision. With this system, researchers can easily gather desired measurement statistics from 3D human body database by assign corresponding terminal markers. Meanwhile, animators can product realistic computer animation efficiently by combining pre-defined joints markers, motion capture technology and scanned human model.
