Abstract
Turbo generator systems are extensively used as distributed power generation because they have high energy density, low vibration and short start time. In addition, nowadays, there are more and more electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles around the world. Small portable electronic products are also developed immensely. So, in order to raise the portability of turbo generator system, this research designed the microturbine rotor system, including simple beam configuration and cantilever beam configuration. According to the test results, the rotation of the simple beam microturbine rotor system with ball bearing system performed better than that using the journal bearing system. This research further resigned the rotor system as cantilever beam configuration to prevent the bearing system closing to the hot section. A dummy generator system was designed with two ball bearing supports. The compressor and turbine were located on one side of the generator system such that they do not need bearing supports. This new design idea was modeled and analyzed to study the possibility of a best rotor design. After the system was completed, this research utilized the spectrum analyzer to monitor the oscillation of the system, finding the natural frequency to compare with the simulation results. After the design and development of microturbine rotor system was finished, in order to reduce development time interval, this research used a ready-made small turbo engine as core power source, coupled with a suitable generator to establish a turbo generator system. The research content included choosing and refitting the turbo engine, matching a generator with the gear ratio, and designing a soundproof housing. Finally, this research has completed a turbo generator system and accomplished 1000W power generation.
