Abstract
According to the global motherboard production and marketing research, the high-end motherboard shipment is gradually increased. The number of components and the circuit layout complexity is dramatically increased of high-end motherboard. The traditional way of motherboard visual inspection is inspected by human eyes, but it often occur operation miss, especially in the high speed DIP production line. This kind of operation miss usually results in high rework cost. In order to reduce product rework cost and improve production yield, the development of automated optical inspection system for DIP production line is the main objective for this case of the company. In this research, we apply Value Engineering analysis techniques in motherboard automated optical inspection system development project. Apply Value Engineering Functional Analysis Systems Techniques to analyze the required functions of lighting system of AOI within limited budget in hardware design stage, and apply Analytic Hierarchy Process to validate the consistency of function index selection. To discover and save unnecessary expenses and develop appropriate alternative solutions with creative approaches. The final goal of this study is to maximize economic benefit at the lowest cost.
