Sizing systems of garments differs from each factory in the ready-to-wear market. Various classification methods and sizing tables lead customers to spend a lot of time finding good-fitting garments. Recently, body shapes of the Chinese people in Taiwan become fatter and taller, and the existing sizing system can no longer satisfy the changes of body features. Therefore, establishing an appropriate standard sizing system is obviously necessary and important.This study aims to analyze the anthropometric data based on “Anthropometric database of the Chinese people in Taiwan”, which is obtained from the latest and the most comprehensive large-scale anthropometric survey in Taiwan. The cluster-analysis of data mining technology was applied to establish the sizing system. Moreover, the sizing system considers a wide range of dimensions, such as lengths, breadths and circumferences, to meet the diversity of body shapes. Taking account of the age and gender differences, a complete sizing system that covers age from 6 to 18 years was developed to fit school children and teenagers of both genders. Additionally, each size can provide specific anthropometric data that comprise 26 measurements for clothing and 16 measurements for pants production. This sizing system provides a useful reference for manufacturers to effectively determine the number of sizes needed and to accurately estimate the production.
