Abstract
Abstract The TFT-LCD industry is one of the key industries strongly supported by Taiwanese government. The rapid development of the TFT-LCD industry in recent years, with its light weight, low-radiation, and power saving advantages, has catapulted TFT-LCD to an enviable position in the display market. In addition, expanding TFT-LCD applications assure an unlimited potential for future steady growth. In this paper, we try to find the strategy of TFT-LCD equipment in Taiwan and discuss the characteristic of TFT-LCD equipment and TFT-LCD industry. The technology of TFT-LCD equipment combines semiconductors, materials, optics, mechanical and electrical engineering its capital and technical entry barrier has become quite steep. The strategy of TFT-LCD equipment is very important for the TFT-LCD industrial competition. Especially, when Japan, Korea, and Taiwan firms have envisioned a bright future for the industry and have continued pouring investments, ramping up production, and entering the competition. The theory of this paper is based on technology management. The research extensively search and collect a variety of document, report, periodical, magazine and news to be arranged and generalize. Then, we interview some key persons of TFT-LCD industry and government to make sure our estimation. Thus analyze document to find the strategy of TFT-LCD equipment. Final, provide conclusion and proposing for TFT-LCD equipment industry of Taiwan.
