Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to design a disposable zoom endoscope. By using the concept of doublet with a plastic lens and PDMS (Polydimethylsiloxane) lens to reduce chromatic aberration. When controlling the displacement and wall thickness of inner lens barrel, the focal length of the endoscope will be changed. The principle is that inner lens barrel press on PDMS lens, the curvature of PDMS lens can be changed, then focal length will be shorter and field of view will be wider. ANSYS is employed to simulate the deformation of PDMS lens under different displacement and wall thickness of inner lens barrel. Zemax is used to compute the optical properties of various profile of PDMS lens. The comparison of image quality depends on MTF diagram and geometric image analysis. In order to attain excellent image quality, the initial shape of PDMS lens and the displacement and wall thickness of inner lens barrel are changed variously. Then, the suitable parameters of lens which bases on simulation are used in experiment. The experiment establishes that the disposable optical zoom endoscope is workable.
