Abstract

要求優先權控制協定
The fact that multimedia applications are more and more popular and required brings the revolution of computer network. To catch up the trend, new network generations should provide wide bandwidth and prioritized media access protocols which can process time-sensitive traffic first. So, 100VG-AnyLAN, a new local area network technology is developed. It adopts demand priority protocol. as its MAC protocol. According to the standard 802.12 specification, just only one transmission is allowed in a 100VG network. Although this restriction can provide the collision-free characteristics, it limits the network utilization. Hence, we propose an enhanced demand priority protocol to allow multiple transmission in progress at the same time. Meanwhile, the original round-robin sequence is not violated. Simulation results show that in terms of mean access delay, the enhanced protocol performs better than the standard, especially for larger frames. The mean concurrent transmissions supported by the proposed protocol is about 4.5 which implies that we can have four to five times the network utilization than the standard protocol does.
