AbstractIn a world of knowledge economy, the most important asset of the enterprises is employees’ knowledge. The enterprises want to know how to promote a company’s value through effective knowledge management. However, the knowledge management is not only a method to manage the knowledge, it is also the knowledge within all organizations in the enterprises. These organizations utilize their knowledge to achieve optimum performance. Many enterprises already realized the value created by knowledge management, and they start to think how to promote, fulfill, and verify the knowledge management. These enterprises firmly believe that they must apply the knowledge management procedures in their core technology instead of the traditional procedures.In the past few years, the growth of software industry is amazing. According to Morgan Stanley’s report, the revenue of software industry already exceeds PC, Semi-Conductor, Internet Equipments and other industries. The software industry is totally a knowledge–orienting industry, the software engineers play the most important role in the software developing process. Software engineers are typical knowledge workers, and their professional knowledge decides their productivity.Because the software systems become bigger and more complicated, and the error tolerance of software is extremely low, the software developing projects fail frequently. Therefore, high-level managers in many software companies indicate that the biggest challenge of software companies is how to manage effectively. The best policy to solve this problem is to apply knowledge management in software developing procedures. Thus we can keep engineers’ experience during software developing procedures, also the software engineers can accumulate the relevant software knowledge more quickly through the knowledge shared by other engineers. This will improve software engineers’ productivity, and thus increase the success rate of the software projects.The software developing procedures in this article is for embedded system. Hope these knowledge management structures, knowledge management procedures, and the methodology of knowledge management system will be helpful for the enterprises which engage in software designing activities. And hope this methodology can help the enterprises to keep the knowledge creating from software developing procedures, and can be a reference for building a knowledge management system of software developing procedure
