Abstract
The focus of the present study is to apply the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) to simulate flows in complex environments. With the BGK approximation combined with the lattice Boltzmann equation, the standard LBGK model has many advantages, such as easy programming, less time consuming and efficient parallel computation. Parallel efficiency using the SPMD and MPI shows nearly ideal performance, which is due to explicit nature of the method. The treatment of the local grid refinement, which is important at the region near the solid wall where the boundary layer exists and other regions where the velocity varies sharply, is also successfully implemented within the LBGK model. The model combined with the second order curve boundary fitting method is also capable to simulate flows with complicated geometries and moving boundaries with ease.
